GET YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE RECOGNISED!

Fast Track Recognition

TAFE NSW can help you obtain the relevant qualification for a contractors licence through a customised fast tracked recognition service for experienced home building trade subcontractors who have no formal qualifications.

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) advised that all new residential home building contractor licensees and supervisor certificate holders must have a relevant qualification from a Registered Training Organisation. Is Fast Track Recognition for me?

If you have been working in your building trade area for a number of years and have gained skills on the job but never received a formal qualification then TAFE NSW can help you.

How does the Fast Track Recognition service work?

You will be given pre-consultation information.
If you decide that you wish to continue, a consultation with a qualified trainer will be organised. This consultation will determine how much recognition you are likely to get, what assessments or tests you should undertake and what additional areas of training you might need.
If you have the skills and experience required for a particular qualification, and can provide the necessary back up evidence through one-to-one assessment with a qualified teacher, then you will be entitled to that qualification.

If it’s found you do not have all the skills and experience required then you will be offered gap training. Once you have completed the necessary Gap Training you will receive the qualification.

Important to note if there is more than one of you using our recognition services then costs could be reduced.

What evidence will I need?

Evidence could include a portfolio, work based assessment, work samples, skills testing, employer reports and/or previous training.

What if I don’t have any evidence?

If you don’t have any evidence then we can assess you on your practical ability. This could involve a range of activities depending on the nature of the trade and the level of the qualification involved.
