GETTING IN
POPULAR COURSESAPPLICATION FORM

To get into a TAFE NSW course you will need to enrol

Different TAFE NSW campuses enrol at different times so first it’s important to double-check the enrolment dates and times at the campus you want to attend. Never leave it to the last minute. Places in most courses fill up very quickly.

Also it is important to note that there are some courses that require an application so you will have to apply first and then when you are accepted you will be notified how to enrol. To find out more about courses that need an application check out popular courses.

There are entry requirements for many courses at TAFE NSW. These are things you must have done to be eligible to do a course. However, just because you meet the entry requirements does not mean you are automatically accepted into a course.

Check with your local campus before you enrol to:

  • Ensure that the campus is running the course you’ve selected.
  • Find out whether you need to attend an information session, a test, audition or some other activity before enrolment day.
  • Ask if you need to bring along any documents to show how you meet the entry requirements.

To enrol, you will have to fill out a form and pay the required TAFE NSW fee. The fee will vary according to the length and type of course you have chosen. Some courses also require you to spend money on books, and for others you will be expected to pay for some of the materials and equipment you use during the course.

For more information check out the Applying & enrolling section.

Hit the ground running!

If you have completed your HSC and you enrol in a TAFE NSW course you may be able to gain credit for your previous studies. That means that you may not have to repeat something that you have already learned.

There are a lot of courses in the HSC that can give you credit towards specific modules in TAFE NSW courses.

To gain credit you would have to provide evidence of your previous study and, of course, your HSC study would have to be relevant to your TAFE NSW course.

Also, if you are a school leaver who has achieved units of competency as part of a VET course you may be eligible to have these units recognised for credit in a TAFE NSW course.

It is important to gather together all relevant documentation to bring along to enrolment in order to claim credit transfer entitlements.

Further information about credit transfer is available from the HSC/TAFE Credit Transfer website.
